I figured out, that design was made from another design concept, which was made from another design, which was made from code from another person.

It's not bad, it's just funny, how far modding of first code went so far :D.

this looks very nice but I couldn't get gmail to work. my user name includes "@gmail.com". I don't know if that was the problem. I kept getting an authorization error.

Thanks!, Yeah, don't include the @gmail.com part, as it will think the username is username@gmail.com@gmail.com.. So just take that off and if it is still causing problems, just let me know.

I tried that actually and still had the authorization error. I'll try it again :)

hmm..if both your username and password are right, then the only think that i can think of is: what version of perl are you running (perl --version) in terminal.

btw, I forgot to mention there are some typos in the .conkyrc_clock file.
lua_load ./.clock_rings.lua
should say...
lua_load ~/.clock_rings.lua
and...
lua_load ./.marks.lua
should say...
lua_load ~/.marks_ns.lua

./. shouldnt matter, as it checks in the same directory, but if you want to change it, feel free

ok i have some other ideas: make sure gmail.pl is executeable, and go into '.clock_rings.lua' and change

name='exec',
arg='perl ~/.conky/gmail.pl n'

name='exec',
arg='perl /home/USER/.conky/gmail.pl n'

USER being home folder name, that might fix it
